The Rule of Life tells us that separation by great distances does not diminish our bonds of affection and solidarity: “In a spirit of brotherhood, the brothers support those who are isolated or overwhelmed by their tasks. They keep in touch with the brothers who are far away…” (R 36). As we approach a festive season marked by restrictions on travel and gatherings, many of us will experience isolation, separated from confrères, friends, and family members. Like Brother Polycarp, who wrote so often to his dear brothers in America, let us also remain close to one another across the miles, united always in the Heart of Jesus, our brother.
Ametur Cor Jesu!
